How Good It Is!

Psalm 73 is a song of Asaph. He was looking around at the proud and wondered how they were prospering and he, who served the LORD, was not. He makes his feelings known right away.

“For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong. They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.” [vs 3-5 NLT]

I think I know how he feels. I admit I have done the same thing on occasion. Why do some have it so easy? They go about their merry way doing anything they want and never seem to struggle for anything.

Asaph finally realized his mistake. He remembered that those who live apart from God will perish. Their end is far different from those who serve the LORD. [vs 27]

I love his finale. “Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever….  how good it is to be near God!” [73:25-27 NLT]

I seek to abide in Asaph’s finale every day. Amen&Amen
