Revelation 21:5-7: “And the one sitting on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new!’ And then he said to me, ‘Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.’ And he also said, ‘It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.’” [NLT]
Behold God is making everything new. Behold God is giving to all who are thirsty without cost. Behold God is giving to all who overcome an inheritance and a relationship as a son or daughter. And who is he who overcomes? John tells us in his letter that it is the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God is the overcomer.
These are glorious words that thrill the soul, but the words that truly caught my attention in those verses from Revelation are the words ‘Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.’
Trustworthy and true. Our God is ABSOLUTELY trustworthy and true. This will happen.
So much in this life disappoints. We elect politicians who make glorious promises, yet these promises are seldom kept. Merchandisers make wonderful claims about their products, yet most of the products fall short. Even family and friends can disappoint us with vows that are broken.
But God is different. God is ABSOLUTELY trustworthy and true, and because there is not even a shadow of turning with Him, His words, His promises are ABSOLUTELY trustworthy and true. He IS making everything new!
