    Which Will it Be?

    by TerryLema August 21, 2023

“When a man is born from above, the life of the Son of God is born in him.  He can either starve that life or nourish it.”  –Oswald Chambers

I love it when Oswald Chambers in “My Utmost for His Highest” throws in a quote that zings my thought processes.  He did that again … we can either starve the life of the Son of God born in us or nourish it.

Jesus said, “’I am the bread of life,’ Jesus told them. ‘No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.’” [John 6:35 HCSB]

We are also reminded in the LORD’s Prayer that we are to ask our Heavenly Father to give us our daily bread.  It seems we easily pray for those physical provisions from the Lord’s Hands that we need in this life.

But above those daily physical provisions, we must seek nourishment for our spiritual lives as well, or they will wither just as readily as our physical ones will wither without daily food. We can literally starve the life of the Son of God in us until we become so weak that we succumb to the enemy’s assaults and the world’s affections.

Jesus said that as the Bread of Life, the ones who comes to Him will never go hungry.  Yes, we come originally and receive eternal life.  But we must also come continually … daily … and seek Him to feed the abundant life He wants to give.

We only remain strong and vital spiritually if we nourish the life of the Son of God in us through daily communion with Him in prayer, through praise and worship, by daily reading the Word of God, and through contact with brothers and sisters who love Him.
