I was sitting in my rocker last Friday evening, September 1. I was reading and half watching the college football game between Louisville and Georgia Tech. I was not in the best of moods. I was tired. Probably a bit grumpy. Certainly fatigued, as I am every evening as 9 PM approaches. And then I noticed a text message from some of The Way gang had hit my phone a bit earlier.
They had gone over to the Christian Faith Center (CFC) Middleton campus and had taken pictures of the progress in the children’s church building. They also took pictures of the flags and signage and billboards waiting in the lobby for the upcoming launch.
As I looked at those pictures, I was overwhelmed by the goodness of God. Everything prayed for was becoming reality. And God was allowing me to see it happen.
All those prayers we prayed to reach Middleton with the Gospel of Christ Jesus were not in vain. The desire for an Espanol service in that building was about to happen in just a couple of days. A building FULL of people who love God was unfolding before our eyes. A building FULL of children learning about their Savior was taking shape and would soon be FULL of the sounds of laughter and love.
When David wanted to build a temple for the LORD, he was told by God that he would not be the one to do so, but his son would. David bowed down in thanksgiving before God. You can read his prayer in 2Samuel 7:18-29.
I felt a little like David. I prayed for God’s house in Middleton. I was not the one to build it, but God is so graciously allowing me to see it happen.
“Now, please bless Your servant’s house so that it will continue before You forever. For You, Lord God, have spoken, and with Your blessing Your servant’s house will be blessed forever.” [vs29 HCSB]
