Do They?

by TerryLema

One of the things that I love about the Holy Spirit is His questions. He doesn’t come pointing a finger in my direction telling me something, He usually asks me a question. Like the one I read recently that was expressed by Charles Standley in a devotion I am reading.

“Do the lost people you interact with know that you’re a believer without your having to tell them?” Charles Stanley

Dr. Stanley was writing about what Peter wrote in his first letter.  “You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.” [ 3:15 NLT]

I have often talked or written about that verse … usually reminding myself and others that “we have to have hope as a believer” before anyone will ask us about it. But when the Holy Spirit spoke through Dr. Stanley’s question, He probed the intents and thoughts of my heart.

Do lost people know I have placed my hope in Christ Jesus before I even tell them I have? Do they see Jesus in me? I would answer the Spirit of God – “Probably? Most of the time? Maybe?”

I can feel the Spirit’s call to make sure I can answer His question with a decisive “Yes!”  Amen&Amen
