I am a great starter. Eager. Energetic. Enthusiastic. I have always been a great starter. I think a lot about all the things I might like to start. However, I am not as great a finisher as I am a starter, as witnessed by my crocheting basket.

For some reason, I often get bored with the things I start and let them languish. While that is okay with my crocheting, it is not okay with my spiritual walk.

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the LORD, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.” [Ephesians 4 NKJV]

Paul beseeched, or begged, his Ephesians readers to walk worthy of their godly calling. Their lifestyle was to please God and bear fruit as he told the church in Colossae.

“…that you may walk worthy of the LORD, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” [Colossians 1:10 NKJV]

To have a worthy walk means more than just starting off with God with a bang. It means continuing our walk through the tough times, through the difficulties of life, through temptations, through discouragements, through boredom, through all the differing enticements life flings at us. No matter what, we keep going.

Today: I am thankful for the encouragement and help of the Holy Spirit to continue in this walk to please my LORD and Savior.
