One of the best chapters in the Bible is Revelation 19. It begins, “After this I heard something like the loud voice of a vast multitude in heaven, saying: Hallelujah! Salvation, glory, and power belong to our God….” [vs 1 HCSB]
Then verse 6 continues, “Then I heard something like the voice of a vast multitude, like the sound of cascading waters, and like the rumbling of loud thunder, saying: Hallelujah, because our Lord God, the Almighty, has begun to reign!” [HCSB]
Then the wonderful description of the Return of the Word of God in verses 11 to 16 ends with, “He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” [HCSB]
I heard someone say recently that God showed up in power. I immediately thought, “when does God ever show up without power?”
When our God is with us, His power is present. Power belongs to our God. He is our LORD GOD, the Almighty. He reigns. He is King of Kings and LORD of Lords. He is Omnipotent. Any power apart from Him is delegated power by Him.
If we do not sense or see His power in operation, it is because we are refusing to acknowledge it, or grown too calloused of heart to surrender to it, or are too focused on our own expectations or plans to see His plans.
But when God arrives in our midst, His power arrives also.
