Pardoned!

by TerryLema

Last Saturday after watching golf and listening to the evening news (yes I watch golf and even have a favorite golfer), Bob and I watched an old Gaither video, Let Freedom Ring. It was recorded at Carnegie Hall not too long after the 9/11 attack.

The last song on that recording is “Let Freedom Ring,” sung by the then Gaither Vocal Band. I love the song and I love that rendition. There is one line in that song that always digs down deep into my heart. “When my Lord bought freedom with the blood of His redemption, His cross stamped pardon on my very soul.”

My soul has an official stamp. “Pardoned!”

Pardoned means the excusing of an offense without exacting a penalty, and the release from the legal penalties of an offense.”

Christ Jesus took my sin, my shame, my guilt, and my punishment on that cross. He paid all my debts that I owed from my sinful ways to a Holy God. He set me free. Then with His blood that flowed down that cross, He stamped my very soul so that throughout this life and into eternity, I bear that marvelous proclamation “Pardoned!”

“In [Christ Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” [Ephesians 1:7 NKJV]

All because of God’s great mercy and the riches of His grace! Hallelujah!

PARDONED!”
