I like reading different Bible translations. I found when I stayed with one translation, I made “ruts” in it. I would end up focusing on those things I had already highlighted – or I would sometimes just breeze through them without much thought. As I began reading various translations, the “ruts” disappeared and I would often stop and think … “is that a different wording?”
That happened with my verse of the day recently. “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.” [1Chronicles 29:11 NLT]
I halted on that last sentence … “We adore you as the one who is over all things.” That sounded different, so, I looked it up in other translations.
“You are exalted as head over all [NKJV NIV]
As I studied those other translations, and the one in my daily verse, I realized that “We [I] adore you …” makes it a personal action. “You are exalted” can be used to eliminate personal participation – surely someone is exalting the LORD, but not necessarily me!
I adore you is my personal promise. One I intend to keep. Amen&Amen
