I can think of no better pastime than rejoicing in the LORD. Philippians 4:4 reminds us that it is a pastime we should always be pursuing. “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!” [NLT]
We are to be full of joy (rejoicing) because of all the beautiful blessings our gracious LORD has poured out on us. As Christians we have more in this life to rejoice about than anyone else. We know that this life is not just about the present – it is about the eternal.
Paul promises in 1 Thessalonians a Crown of Rejoicing. “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?” [2:19 NKJV]
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told us to “Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.” [Matthew 6:20]
When we get to heaven, we will find that our greatest treasure awaiting us are those people we have led to Christ, those we have helped along the way. They will be our hope, our joy, our crown of rejoicing in the Presence of our LORD Christ Jesus. Amen&Amen
